The Whitecourt meteorite crater was first discovered only in 2007 and is situated in dense forest in Alberta, Canada. Whitecourt meteorites are classified as medium octahedrite IIIAB type and a lot of the specimens are of the shrapnel variety, having the characteristic twisted edges. The crater is 36 metres in diameter and is situated in a protected reserve. Any meteorite hunting can only take place outside of this protected area. This is a great meteorite to have in anyone’s collection especially as it’s from a recently found crater. All Canadian meteorites need an export permit before they can be taken out of the country and all the specimens listed below were officially exported by myself and will come with a copy of the permit and also a specimen card from the finder as well as my own id card.
