Moldavites

Moldavites are found in the Czech republic with the strewnfield extending into Austria. They are associated with the Ries impact crater in Germany and are 14.7 million years old.  They are green in colour and generally have beautiful surface textures. The colour is due to their low iron content and the texture is due to etching during their terrestrial life in the rocks in which they were deposited. Because of this beautiful texture and colour they are highly sought after by collectors and are also often used in jewellery making.
