A Martian meteorite is a rock that formed on Mars and was ejected by the impact of an asteroid or comet before finally landing on Earth. This piece of Mars Rock is NWA 10645 which landed in North West Africa. Lots of pieces were recovered in 2016 by nomads. It has been analysed by Scientists and has been classified as a Martian Nakhlite Meteorite. Nakhlites are one of the least common of the Martian Meteorites with less than a quarter of known Martian Meteorites being classified as such. Martian Meteorites consist of less than 0.5% of all known meteorites so are very rare indeed!
