Writeup | Writeup from MB 108: Northwest Africa 12481 (NWA 12481) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2018 March Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, melt breccia) Petrography: Brecciated igneous rock with lithic and mineral clasts set in a melt rock matrix. Main minerals are pyroxene (both exsolved and not exsolved) and plagioclase. Accessory silica polymorph (to 100 µm), troilite, FeNi metal. Geochemistry: Pyroxene: low-Ca Fs57.4±2.0Wo4.7±2.5 (n=4), augite Fs27.1±0.8Wo42.8±0.8 (n=3), FeO/MnO=32.4±3.3 (n=7). Plagioclase An89.8Ab97Or0.5 (n=2). Classification: Eucrite-melt breccia. Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
